Greyhound - First documented in the 1930’s Savoy Cocktail book as “a variation of the Grapefruit Cocktail” which utilized gin as the core spirit. A “Greyhound” cocktail also appears in Harper’s Magazine in 1945 stating “The cocktails were made of vodka, sugar, and canned grapefruit juice–a greyhound.”
How To Make The Greyhound
Build over ice in a tall glass and serve. If there is extra room in the glass, you can always double the ratio to fill out the glass.
Prior to 1945, in the United States at least, most cocktails contained gin instead of vodka so many classics like the Greyhound were gin-based utilizing similar ratios.
